The new BYD seal gets bigger boot

BYD Seal 2026: Bigger Boot, Smart Features, and Driver Monitoring

BYD has updated its popular Seal model for 2026, introducing practical upgrades and smart technology while keeping pricing and performance unchanged.

More Space for Everyday Life

One of the standout changes is the increased boot capacity. The rear boot has grown from 400 litres to 485 litres, giving you more room for shopping, sports gear, or luggage. The front boot has also been expanded, from 53 litres to 72 litres - now large enough to hold a standard carry-on suitcase. These changes make the Seal even more versatile for families or those who need extra cargo space.

Smart Technology

The 2026 Seal adds a smartphone-based Bluetooth key system, allowing drivers to unlock and start their car using their phone - a convenient and modern alternative to traditional keys. Additionally, a driver monitoring system has been introduced to enhance safety, ensuring the driver stays attentive on the road.

Performance and Pricing

While space and tech have been updated, the powertrains remain the same:

  • Design 308PS - £45,730, range of 354 miles
  • Excellence AWD 523PS - £48,730, range of 323 miles

This means drivers get all the new features without any increase in price or compromise on performance.

New Looks

The 2026 Seal also introduces three new colours - Ruby Red, Obsidian Black, and Lavender Grey - plus a redesigned set of 19-inch wheels. Updated models can be distinguished by a BYD logo on the top of the boot lid and the removal of the logo from the headrests.

Leasing Considerations

For businesses and personal lease customers, the updated Seal offers a strong mix of practicality, technology, and electric performance. The increased boot space and modern features make it a compelling choice for those looking for a versatile EV with all the latest innovations.
